Amanda Grue
Captain, Summit Lead
My running journey started over 20 years ago (wow!) when I joined my high school cross country team. After a few mediocre seasons, I hit pause to focus on college and didn’t pick up the pursuit again until after graduating. Soon after, the joy grew as I added more and more mileage, and saw what my body could accomplish. I had caught that so-called “marathon bug”.
Over a decade of mileage, training plans, and races later, I discovered GIRLAB in 2020. From the beginning, GIRLAB quickly contrasted any notions I had of what a group could accomplish together in a "solo sport" like running.
The GIRLAB community provides support for both athletic and personal development, no matter if the goal is to PR your 10k or contribute in a novel way to your community. As a part of the GIRLAB Summit experience, I am proud to create more focused experiences that allow us to reach new heights, both figuratively and physically! I support in any way I can, from crafting logistics (yes google sheets!), to crewing day-of, to handing out that celebratory champagne (rosé, all day?).
Outside of GIRLAB, you can find me traveling to new cities, walking my dog Birdie, cheering on LA sports teams, and working as an engineer at NASA (GIRLAB summit on Mars anyone?). I could not be more excited to share in each new experience through our GIRLAB Summits!
